Mother's Day Card

Last week, Sheila provided us with a delightful Mother's Day project on the Design With Sassy Facebook group.  I basically followed the template she provided and made a card for my DDIL.

You can see that I added an extra little girl to the silhouette from A Child's Year to represent both my DGDs with their Mom.  The image was SO easy to alter in DS using the 'weld' feature.  Charlotte C. also used the Mother's Day image but substituted a little boy instead of the girl.  Oh the possibilities!
Here's the inside of my card:-

The basic design was so cute that I wanted to try adapting it for another card and chose to make a birthday card for my son.  I used the 'weld' feature again to personalize the card.  The little calendar on the front is free in DS.  So cool!

And the the innies:-

Thanks to Sheila for providing the template and thank YOU  for visiting with me today.   : ) Christine

Happy Fourth of July!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy celebration yesterday.  Since the conditions were so hot and dry, we had just a few sparklers for Master J after the traditional BBQ followed by cheesecake topped with delicious Bing cherries grown in our orchard.  Yum!

Did you see the Stars and Stripes projects by the DT on BBTB2 challenge blog?  Although they were all awesome, I LOVED the card by Melanie for its creativity.  Melanie saw the flower card on the Artfully Sent cart as fireworks illuminating the sky and I just had to scraplift her idea.   While browsing the cart images, I saw that there was also a pop up version and I had to try that one too.

Isn't this AC red foil card stock beautiful?  And the silver iridescent paper makes the stars sparkle in the sky.   Here's the front with another view of the red foil star border.   The boy on the rocket comes from A Child's Year and is popped up for dimension.

Here's the front of the card inspired by Melanie: -

I added tulle and tied it with red and white twine to pick up the color of the stamped sentiment.   Here's the innies:-

I am SO over that Pebbles paper!  Time to shop for something different, right?   Thanks for visiting with me today as I hustle to get ready to watch Team USA in action on the soccer field.   :  )  Christine

September Challenge

My local Craft Warehouse store hosts a Craft and Card club every month.  It is such fun and very inspiring to meet other crafters in person.  We get to see new supplies, sometimes before they go on the shelf, participate in a card swap, show 'n tell our latest projects and enter the monthly theme challenge and have our entries displayed in the store.  Of course, there are give-aways and prize drawings.

The September Challenge was 'In my Garden' and we had to incorporate seed packets, twine and a teeny, flat backed mason jar in our design.   It was amazing to see the creativity and variety in all the projects.  It never occurred to me to stamp flowers and place the mason jar over the stems like a vase, or to add real tiny seeds to the jar.  I just glued mine on top of a picture!  LOL!

I made a never - ending card and embellished it with images from 'Garden Soup' and 'A Child's Year.'
Several people hadn't seen this kind of card before and enjoyed its interactivity.

Terri Anderson from Technique Tuesday hosted a Make and Take using the zipper die she helped design.  Of course, I brought one home!

Check out your local store for crops and clubs.  Crafting people are some of the nicest people I know!   Thanks for visiting with me.  Uh oh!  I hear Master J stirring - time for play dough and splashing in his little pool!  : )  Christine

At the Beach

Several years ago my sister visited the lovely city of White Rock, and decided that she was going to live there.  Since she is quite persistent and determined, her dream came true!  White Rock is a sea side community and my sister regularly walks her dog on the beach. It is a great place for vacationing relatives too!

When I saw the phrase, "Life is better at the beach" in the Silhouette - on - line store, I naturally thought of her.  Here is the wall decor my DH and I made to celebrate her time in White Rock.  DH contributed the 'white' rock and the sand purloined from the local golf club!  Attaching that sand to the bottom of the frame took considerable ingenuity, I can tell you.  LOL!

The dog walker cut in vinyl comes from A Child's Year and was cut with the Explore.  The background beach is by DCWV.

Thanks for visiting today.  It's a rainy day and we are off to IKEA.  : )  Christine

'A Child's Year' birthday card

This is one of my favorite carts since it has SO much on it - images, icons, phrases and a font.   The card is for our DGS' first birthday and I used the phrase "Happy First Birthday" for the inside.  Turtles have to appear on any card for J.  Can you see them on the background paper?  Thanks for visiting today.  :) Christine
