April Showers, Baby Groot and Paper Spinners -

Time surely flies by when you are having fun!  Let me tell you that I am MUCH happier with my new home now I have flowers, shrubs and vegetables busily growing in the garden.  The birds scold us if we let the feeder sit empty for too long, there's a beautiful white kitty in the neighborhood that loves to have it's ears scratched, and we have discovered a source for fresh eggs that are almost, almost as good as my girls used to lay!

Today I want to share the OHM treats that I have created in the past few months.  Here's the little baskets of Rolo flowers I made for the children in May.

The basket comes from the Art Philosophy cart and is sized at 5 inches high so that I could get two on a page.   I embossed the basket with the Gingham cuttlebug embossing folder.  The flowers come from a variety of carts, (Forever Young, Paper Lace 2, Artistry, and Sweet Treats) and all have a center large enough to fit the Rolos.  You can't see from the pics, but I bought the pastel foiled Rolos that are available at Easter time for this project. The label comes from Tie the Knot.

Having made something pretty and traditional for the May treats, I opted to go for cute and up-to-the-minute for the June treats -  Baby Groot!

He comes from the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy image set and I made him detachable so that the children could play with him.  Oh so cute!  The label comes from Spring Fling and the font I used is Cricut Sans.  I love how solidly this font prints.

Baby Groot is attached to the MCT Stitched Favor Box die (here) cut from Tim Holtz Kraft Core paper and embossed, by turning it crossways, with the Retro Kitchen Wallpaper 5 x 7 folder so that the craft side shows through.  I tied plenty of knots in the twine when I attached the label to the box and I accepted the fact that I might be the only one amused by this.  LOL!

Of course, I had to make an extra one for Master J who carried it around all day.  : )   : )  : )

Lastly, here's July's treats including a simple fidget spinner made from paper. I used the bit left over when a pop dot is removed to add height behind the brad and attached the brad VERY loosely so that it would spin freely.

After I had figured THAT out, these were very easy and quick to make.

Did you make it through this loooong catch up post?  It may not make complete sense since I am watching Anna Griffin on HSN at the same time and blogging is my method of resisting temptation.   : )    Thanks for visiting today.  : )  Christine

Edited to add - Hmm.  The movie doesn't work.  Still figuring things out!  Sorry!  : (

Shaped Thank You Card

I haven't been able to enter the BBTB2 challenge for a while and was determined to do so when I saw this weeks challenge - create a shaped card.  I was in need of a simple thank you card and went in search of a chunky 'Thank You' in Design Space to use on my card.  I found 'Thanks A Bunch' on the Wild Card 2 cart and brought it onto my canvas.

Then it was easy peasy lemon squeezy to duplicate the shadow layer and flip it to make the back of the card.  I moved the two images until the T's overlapped and found that I had to add two small rectangles between the two h's and the two k's so that my card would fold.  Here's the welded shape.

Since it said "Thanks a Bunch" I chose to embellish it with rolled flowers cut from the CTMH Art Philosophy cart.  (Wild Card 2 uses bananas wouldn't that would be fun?)  Wild Card 2 has tons of sentiments that can be made into shaped cards, so I can see myself adding a few to my stash.

Pop over to the BBTB blog and look at some of the other fun shaped cards.  I love Brenda's birdcage and Carolyn's Frozen castle.    Thanks for visiting with me today.  : ) Christine

Here's the DS file if you'd like it!  Thank You Card

Valentine Treats - Part Deux

There are SO many adorable animal cuts on my Cricut carts and I obviously need more DGKids!  (hint! hint!)  I finally decided on this sweet mama kangaroo and her joey because of the heart shaped balloon.  This cut is from Birthday Bash and I think that I'll use the card key and replicate mama kangaroo on G's Valentine card. Should be a cute card for a cute DGD!

Since my head was full of cute 'holder' ideas, I thought that I would cut the baby from Baby Steps and have him holding a basket of goodies and a gift card for an upcoming baby shower.  Again, the heart border holding the box - all the baskets I have in my stash were too large - is cut from Paper Trimmings and the flowers are from Art Philosophy.  Inconsistent, I know, but somehow I don't mind his huge head!

I am linking my big-headed baby in the Bitten by the Bug 2 Baby Challenge

and this week's Exploring Cricut  Cricut Choice challenge - use the color blue, two Cricut cuts and patterned paper.

Now I'm off to pick up Master J for the afternoon.  Hope you have a fun day, too!   Thanks for visiting with me.  : ) Christine

Valentine Treats Part 1!

I was wandering around the aisles at Freddy's looking for Valentine candy for the DGKids.  There were the CUTEST heart shaped boxes of candy attached to the CUTEST stuffed animals and I was so tempted to buy them!  But, really, S and G and even J,  have bedrooms full of stuffies and have no room for any more.  Then it occurred to me that I could create a paper animal that would look just as cute since I have a gazillion carts!

My first thought was Teddy Bear Parade and the way Nadia morphed them into other animals - here
but I really, really, really don't like the bear's big head.

Her paws are holding a heart border cut from Paper Trimmings and the flowers are from Art Philosophy.   Back to the drawing board, as they say!

I found this panda on Animal Antics and cut her out after 'hiding' the vacuum cleaner.  I DO like this one.
I used three different patterned papers for the flowers so that I could enter my panda in the FCCB  Challenge # 195  Mix and Match

Again, I apologize for the quality of the photos since I took the pictures this evening and my DD, who was lending me her Lightbox to see if I like it, has not brought it up yet!!!!!

I'll be back with Part 2, tomorrow!  Thanks for visiting with me.  : ) Christine
